The monograph summarizes the results of long-term studies of mass transfer processes in water bodies, carried out by employees of the group of intra-water processes of the Institute of water problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences using theoretical and experimental approaches. The obtained data for the Caspian sea, a number of large rivers of the ETR, reservoirs and lakes allow us to assess the state of water pollution of the considered objects, the interaction of water masses and bottom sediments, the development of eutrophication processes and changes in water quality due to anthropogenic influence. Mathematical modeling methods and developed software systems can be used to assess changes in water quality indicators during emergency spills and wastewater discharges.
