Rybka К.U., Shchegolkova N.М. Phyto-Purification Plants as Natural-Technogenic Barriers against Pollutants. - М.: “Water: Chemistry and Ecology”. 2019, 255 p. ISBN 978-5-9909335-7-6
The monograph addresses the issues of wastewater treatment using constructed wetlands (CWs) - shallow above- or underground water bodies planted with higher aquatic vegetation. Development of the technology, the main types of constructed wetlands, their advantages and disadvantages are described in detail, as well as the mechanisms of the main pollutants removal (suspended solids, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, heavy metals, organic substances, including xenobiotics) and disinfection using constructed wetlands. The efficiency of such systems in world practice is analyzed.
In conclusion, the possibility of using CWs in our country from the point of view of climatic features and economic efficiency is considered.
The book is intended for professionals involved in water quality issues and the protection of water resources, students of specialized educational institutions and lecturers, as well as other readers interested in the problems of wastewater treatment.
