The integrated study of the current state of the hydrological regime and water ecosystems of Russia’s largest (great) lakes, such as Caspian, Ladoga, Onego and Baikal (the water level variation pattern of Lake Baikal was appraised) (Filatov et al., 2016), are developing. Variations in climate, related to hydrological regime, were assessed, and variations in the water balance, water level and ecosystems of the lakes for a period of several years to several decades were conducted. To reveal the regional and global variation pattern of hydrological regime, which depends on climatic variations, the mean annual and monthly water level values of Russia’s lakes and the Great American Lakes (relevant data are available) were analyzed. Warming trends, warming and cooling periods and quasi-cyclic long-term variations, not coherent for the watersheds of various Eurasian and North American lakes, were estimated.
